tire size with 18" panamera wheels
I got the chance to get a set of Panamera wheels for my 1991 S4. The wheels are 9.0JX18 ET 53 and 8.0 X 18 ET 59. I have no suspension modification and would like the best fit possible.
I know we got some guru who will shine on this and sorry in advance if the question has been ask before.

If you search you'll find more than a few threads with differing opinions on best tire size. Here's a couple to get you started:

Just curious, 5 or 10 spoke?

I went with Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 265/40/r18 out back and 235/45/R18 up front.
These sizes gave me the look I'm after and the requisite sidewall for NYC driving. It drives perfect with no tram-lining or any other drivability issues. Zero additional harness compared to the 16's that were on the car but the road holding (lateral G) is much improved.

Grip is fine for an all season and reasonably quiet too. Wet performance is great. I have Michelin Pilot Super Sports on an off topic car so I'm disappointed (spoiled) with just about every other tire I've experienced since. I had these Conti all season tires at hand for the OT car but put Michelin PSS on for a track day and never looked back. For what I paid for the Conti's and the intended use of the Porsche they are fine, no regrets. I plan on using the 928 in the cold so the Conti's are a good choice. , The OT car wont get used in the cold.

My Panamera 5 spokes have Michelin Pilot AS3+ F245/35-18 R265/35-18. They fit fine with no mods on my '91 S4 and are reasonably priced from Tire Rack. Stickier than my excellent Bridgestone RE11s and work great in the rain.

The AS3 are my tire of choice when it comes to daily driving as it is dangerous to get stuck in the rain with summer tires. Plus they stick better than most high end summer tires to boot!

Good day,
I got a chance to get a deal on tire, but the rear will be 255- 35-18 the front 235-40-18. I know they will fit but I was wondering if the back will not be wide enough and that will affect the balance of the car.
I appreciate all comments.

I'm running 235/40 and 265/35 Extreme Contact Sports on my Panamera 18s, I'm quite pleased with both the wet and dry performance, and the price is reasonable. If you have a good deal on 255/35 rears I doubt you'll really give up much. You lose a little contact patch area, but you may gain a little sidewall stability by getting a little more flare of the sidewall to the rim. Ideally you want to run the max rim with specified for the tire. The 255/35 (Conti ECS) specs a 8-9.5 rim, whereas the 265/35 specs 9-10.5.

The 255/40/18 PS AS3+ tires I put on the back of my 89 have a tread width of 8.9 inches. Perfect for a 9 inch wheel.
The 265/40/18 tAS3+ has a 9.8 inch width. I would go to tire rack and use the tread width to decide what size you should use. It does vary brand to brand and tire to tire within that brand for any given size.
