Box of Parts to Sport Seats
A coworker was cleaning out his garage and he gave 3 boxes of seat parts. These were seats he purchased with the intension of recovering them himself for his 964 targa. He never finished the project, and then he moved probably 3 times misplaced a bunch of parts in each move. The seats themselves are are 2-way power adjustable sport seats probably from a 944 judging by the 944 part number on the Recaro sticker on the seat frame.
Given that all Porsche sport seats from this vintage have the share the same internal components (chassis, foam, electrical, etc) I should be able to use these for my 928 if I can make them whole and source a new set of seat covers for a 928.
The seats are mostly disassembled and a quick inventory shows that I am missing quite a lot of parts but the important seat bolsters are there so I should be able to source everything else. The seat mechanicals are super dirty and not functional and seat rails have some serious rust on them. The PO tried to install 911 seat covers. I am not sure of the source but they were not made with the correct seams, so they will get removed and sold.
My goal is to do a quality job refurbishing these. If anyone has some good DYI suggestions, I am all ears. Thanks in advance!

Baseline assessment complete
I finally had a day to properly sort through the boxes of stuff and see what I had to deal with. These are indeed sport seats with power vertical lift front and rear and manual back reclining and fore/aft movements. The previous owner did a DIY recover of 3/4 of the seats and then abandoned the project. Here are some pics of the seats in their current state:
The bases have a lot of rust on them. I gave them a good cleaning and they seem to work fine, but look like hell. I wonder if it's possible to disassemble the tracks (top and bottom) so they can be blasted and repainted.

Overdue Update
Here is a long overdue update. I was a little side tracked with my Intake Refresh. But now that is done, I can re-focus my attentions on this project.
I removed the 911 seat covers and found them a new home. The bolsters and foam look to be in good condition.
Thanks to the very generous help from several list members and a few lucky eBay purchases, I was able to source nearly all the missing parts. I was actually missing much more than I thought. I just need a couple more pieces.
I gave all the mechanicals a thorough cleaning with paint thinner which did a very good job in cleaning out all the old dry grease in the hinges and lift mechanisms and then used synthetic grease to get everything working as it should.
The rusty seat rails were sanded and coated with rust preventer primer and some black paint. They turned out quite well actually, so well, that I am considering doing the other set that did not have much rust.
928 part numbers on the foam. The seats must have been developed for the 928.
Notice the thin gauze like material on the bolsters. this help protect the bolsters by allowing the cover to slide vs grip the foam as the driver is getting in and out of the seat.
More 928 part numbers.
I wanted to get a close up of these hooks that are used to anchor the seat covers. It was nice to see these all intact on all of the seat frames.
Here are most of the seat mechanicals. You can see the seat rails on the left are the ones I repainted. They look fantastic.
And I am sure someone will note, I have the incorrect motor cover. If someone knows the correct part number, please chime in, I need two.

Wanting a used seat cover to make a pattern.
I am now ready to start with seat covers. I am aware of Classic9 and have used them before. However, I have a unique opportunity to learn how to make seat covers from a local professional and I think that would be an incredibly unique experience to learn a time honored craft. My good friend's father (Guy) has been in the business for a long time and he has done all sorts of interiors from Hot-Rods to Zagatos with plenty of Porsches in between. Guy was impressed with my DIY dash project and has offered to show me the ropes. The problem is he doesn't have a pattern for a 928 seat let alone a 928 Sport seat (He has pattern for the 911's). Specifically we need the center section for the seat bottom and seat back.
WANTED: Does anyone have an old seat cover that is any condition they would be willing to donate or sell so we could make a pattern. It doesn't need need to be in great condition just complete so we can unstitch it and see how it was made and measure up the panels. This would need to be 1986-1995 years Sport or non-sport is fine.
PS, here are some fun cars at Guy's shop... going there is always exciting!

Wanted — Seeking a pair of sport seats
Greetings all.
I’m fixing up my 1986 951 and want to add a set of period correct sport seats. Will rehab a set or if there’s a set in good condition in linen / grey beige (code LQ).
If anyone knows where I can source a set I’d appreciate it.
