Question - Aftermarket brake hoses...
OK, guys that have installed aftermarket brake hoses, I was starting this project this weekend and noticed that the inboard end of the OEM hose has a flat side to slide into the body-side bracket and be locked in place. The aftermarket hose from Garage 928 does not, and to make it fit will require using a dremel to open up that bracket opening to slide the hose in. I really don't want to cut into my original bracket to make an aftermarket hose fit. I had incorrectly assumed this to be plug-and-play, so I'm inclined to bite the bullet and buy new OEM hoses.
BUT has anyone else had this issue? Do any of the other aftermarket hoses actually fit without having to alter the car.

send them back for a refund, and get the correct hoses with the right fittings. You do not want to compromise on something that gets pulsed pressure and allows you to stop the car. The vendor, when shown the issue, should step right up without any argument at all.

Changed all four of mine with aftermarket hoses from Pagid. The fronts had the correct D profile. I don’t recall whether the rears have similar profile at bracket, but the Pagid parts looked identical to originals anyway.
Rears were Pagid 70844, fronts 70848.

That "notch" has absolutely no functional purpose. File/Dremel it round enough for the line to fit through.

Thanks guys. My car is an 84. Part of the trick is that in Porsche's infinite wisdom, there are three different part numbers for front brake lines and the part number for 83.5 to 86 has been superseded by a newer part number, while the 86-95 part number has remained the same.
Through some cross referencing I think I've found some good aftermarket lines that have the OEM style ends without paying $150 EACH for Porsche OEM front hoses. I really just hate to make "one way" modifications by cutting into metal parts of the car, however small it might be. Its just one of my idiosyncrasies. If it works I'll update the thread with photos and details when they arrive.

If you dont want to file the bracket on the car,
as an option see if Roger has the correct ones, I think he does .
The set I just installed on an 84 had the correct machined surface for the front lines,
so it was infact plug and play.
That said I have also had to modify the bracket because the lines did not have the correctly machined surface this was a year or more ago.
When the lines are apart ,
The last thing you want to do is put the old lines back on because the new parts didnt fit.

USA 82 to 83.5 are different lines on the front from 81 & 84
My full sets of SS Braided (covered with a clear protective sleeve) are $95 - 87 (86.5) to 95 are $100 a set.

Thanks Roger. If I had the patience I would have gotten in touch with you today, but in my weekend frustration of planning to get a project done and being thwarted, I wanted to figure it out and deal with it right then. So I was able to cross reference some numbers and order what I believe should be correct. I'll know this week, so if they aren't you are the first call on my list.
Afterwards I realized part of the problem was that Richard at Garage 928 had accidentally sent me lines for 78-81 calipers. I reached out to him on FB and he was very apologetic about the mix-up and is refunding the purchase price. I've bought other things from him in the past and he's a very stand-up guy.
