Default Neutral Safety Switch/Connector

She won't start now and then. The plastic connector on the transmission for the neutral safety switch is crumbling due to age. I was able to tighten it once, but it came loose again. A new one is not available.
Its cold & I don't want to get under there again.

The wiring diagram doesn't show the complete circuit and wire colors. Of course I could be missing it.

Its an 80 3 speed automatic. Anyone have any info on bypassing it or know which are the correct wires on the fuse panel or rear harness?

Does anyone have a line on a good connector?

Brrrr. 13 degrees today.

the starter relay 928 615 117 00 is the seventh from the left , top row ...the manual trans has a bridge (jumper) which allows the 5 speed to start in any gear ... if you jumper the relay or wedge the points closed (tooth pick) your automatic will start in gear as well ...so be careful and do not let other people drive the car that way ..

the '80 auto trans neutral safety has (4) wires connected to it. (2) are blk/blu and are for your backup lites, the other (2) are the neutral safety which should be brwn/yel. Looking at the switch in its mounted position the (4) male terminals should be on the left side. The (2) bottom are the backups and the top (2) are the safety circuit. My advice on a fix would be not to bypass the switch. For one thing, you can't jump the backup circuit. With the key on your lites would always be on. Bypassing any safety switch is always a bad idea, especially the neutral safety. If the connector is the only problem, and the female terminals are ok, then here's a fix that worked for me...
1. break off whatever remains of the connector
2. get some shrink tubing that will just fit over the female terminals
3. use a heat gun and shrink the tubing over the terminals so they're insulated
4. plug the females on the males in the above order

their is a cannon plug stile electrical write that plugs into the 89 S4 auto transmission. I am looking for a replacement plastic circular nut for that wire.
