Default Spark Plug Wires

88 S4 Auto... I'm pulling and cleaning all the spark connections to hopefully correct a misfire issue. Noticed the coil connection at the base of my left rotor cap was loose. Cleaned and firmly reattached. Anyway was not paying attention to the spark plug connections at the top of the rotor cap. Is there a schematic to identify which spark plug attaches to which post on the rotor cap? Didn't see anything obvious in section 28 of the workshop manual.

Thanks,
Steve

It's imprinted on each of the cam gear covers the caps attach to.

Default Speaking of plug wires...

I'm working on a TB/WP replacement on my '87 Auto and noticed the plug wires were made in W Germany. Perhaps they are the originals - they are pretty beat up. Are newer wires still marked this way? They must have changed the mold since the reunification of Germany some 25 years ago?

2 year old set of wires. Same markings. I'm sure they made many thousands of them on initial production.

They were functioning - not sure how well as I have nothing to compare the engine performance to. Almost all the protective insulating jackets (not wires) were crack through indicating they were pretty old and brittle. I have the PO maintenance records (photocopies) back to 1989, which show caps and rotors being replaced, but nothing on the wires that I can see (older receipt copies are not very clear, unfortunately).

Wires can be pricey...do you mean the boots?

The ends simply screw on, and can be replaced...if those are weathered some, not a huge issue.

Wire insulation cracking, or high resistance with a meter...is bad.
