OB licence plate engine compartment emergency flasher and pod lights always stay on
I am chasing electrical gremlins in my 1978 US spec car and would like to know if you all think my next planned move is correct. Here is what I have done so far, all grounds have been cleaned, relay's barbs cleaned, all fuses removed contacts on electric board cleaned and new fuses installed in correct size and placement. The wiring loom from the electric panel into the engine compartment had a number of melted wires so I replaced it with a new OEM unit. Hurray the car now starts and drives!
Some problems remain, regardless of whether either the headlight switch or the ignition (key) is on or off the following lights stay on: outside the car license plate lights and engine compartment light. Inside the car the following switches stay on fog light, odometer reset, rear defrost rear wiper and emergency flashers. So now I am thinking it's time to remove and either repair or replace the headlight switch, would you all agree?

You could try just unplugging it and see if they go out, but from your description sounds like it's in the Parking light (position 1) mode.
it is easy to pull the **** and pull the switch through pod and disco it.

So I pulled the switch and after finding this thread figured I could bench test it. Based on the info there I believe blade 30 (positive from battery) and 58 (Dash, underhood, license plate) should not have continuity when the switch is in the off position but they do. So I am thinking the switch is bad, does anyone concur?
