GTS engine noise scare
The GTS was out for a spirited drive last weekend after which it was treated to an engine oil and filter change (a few more runs planned before the big snow)
As typical after fitting the new filter and filling with fresh oil (20w50 ZRod) the engine was started to circulate the oil then check level. There was an immediate strange whirring noise on start up that increased/decreased with engine speed. All sorts of panic thoughts rush through my head of cam chain and/or pad failure, timing belt/waterpump failure all leading to imminent grenading of the engine. Shut the engine down and looked around nothing evident so sat in the garage, contemplated if the engine needed some large amount of work then it was coming out and a full refresh would be done. I then posted to a few very knowledgable folk to get there opinion and left garage for the night.
Last night I pulled the air filter housing and tubes with thoughts of further exploration and while standing at the engine bay drivers side running the valve cover removal process through my mind I noticed a loose vacuum line around the brake booster. Tracing it to the booster, it was for connection to the check valve and was disconnected. Hoping beyond hope I restarted the engine then reconnected the vac line.........thankfully noise gone.
Sometimes its really is just the simple things..........going for a beer now.

A beer in the morning?
Well, if it's fine with you, have one on me!
I'll do the same this afternoon.
Happy that it was just a simple disconnected hose.
Keep up the good work my friend.

we all know that feeling, when something very bad has happened (or so we believe)...….and then the elation, discovering, that
it was something so innocuous!
congrats! and keep drinking....better yet, buy some lottery tickets. you could be on a roll
