VIN stickers
The VIN sticker on my door jam was removed during a recent repaint. I am thinking about ordering one from a company called CarBone in Poland (they have an ebay presence). They get pretty good reviews for their reproduction stickers. My problem is that I don't know the date my car was manufactured.
My car is a 1985 model year, and last 6 of VIN are 861894. I am looking for 1985 owners who have VINs close to mine to tell me their VIN and production month. I may be able to get an accurate date if I can get a few VINs that are close.
Thanks.

Send an email to Porsche and ask them. I got my build date and other information for free from Porsche UK.

As I stated, it is 861894. I guess it is a later build. The entire VIN is WP0JB0928FS861894 if it makes a difference.
Shoot, if this was a week aggo, I could tell you the -day- it was built. But..not for another 3wks now.

Carbone did an excellent job for me making repro stickers for my '85 ROW, many of which were not on their website, so more or less "one offs" from measured photos I sent them prior to a full respray. They really seem to love what they do and it shows in their product. Great communication and service. No affiliation, just a very satisfied customer. They often set up booths at trade shows in the US and I'm hoping to meet them someday just to thank them in person.
My '85 VIN is 840177 and is a 10/84 build

Swede: Thanks, I'll try an email. I didn't know this was available. I thought I would have to shell out the $175 to get a COA to get the info.
Speed: Thanks. I can wait. No big rush.
Ladybug: Thanks. This is what I was looking for. I guess not many '85s reading this. So my car was made after October, assuming the ROW cars use the same number sequence. Good to hear another favorable review on those Polish guys.

I emailed Porsche regarding production date and options (though you kind people have already helped me with that) and any other info they would be willing to send me. I got a same-day email back, stating:
Thank you for your inquiry to Porsche Cars North America. With regard to your inquiry on vehicle options, we do offer a service called the Porsche Production Specifications (PPS). You can find out more about that and how to order one at https://www.porsche.com/usa/accessor...leinformation/.
However, if you are seeking a specific package or option on the vehicle we can confirm or deny options. You can inquire about a specific feature and we can confirm whether or not the vehicle has this. I will confirm for you that the production date of this vehicle is 05/15/1985.
You can call us at 1-800-PORSCHE, option 3 and sub option 3. We are available Monday through Friday 8AM to 9PM EST.
Kind Regards,
Porsche Cars North America, Inc.

Interesting that they will confirm or deny options but not give the list to you. Also, the PPS (which replaces the CoA) is $100 plus postage. They will be soon be offering a "Classic Technical Certificate" for cars that have been inspected by a "Certified Classic Partner".
If this is old news, sorry for cluttering up the board.

Would someone with a 1985 US model please post (or PM me) a clear pic of their black VIN tag from the door jam? I want one to send to CarBone so they get the details right when they reproduce one for me.
Thanks.
Thanks.
