Default former buyer

scott, I thought you loved that car when I sold it to you! We even spent an hour test driving the car and then took it to our mechanic for his assessment. You know that he said it was in perfect shape both mechanically and physically. It is my understanding thru our mechanic that you ran into some future unforseen problems (computer etc.) that were beyond my control and may have put a bad taste in your mouth. But that car was exactly as advertised when I sold it to you or you wouldn't have bought it. Seriously, how could it have been any nicer, especially for a car with over 70,000 miles! It was prestine! Even though its been over a year since I sold you the car I would be willing to make good on anything that you honestly feel I withheld from you. Please don't make me out to be a bad guy, i'm not!

Scott, Sounds like you had plenty of time to check out the car you bought. If you didn't agree with the condition, why did you still buy it from him? Any 928 needs work, Complain to your mechanic if he didn't find anything wrong with it at the time. This seller sounds sincere in his items and gives plenty of opportunity to view the cars before you bid. I look forward to seeing new listings of 928's on Ebay. We need more sellers like this one to give us opportunities on cars that we may never know are even available.

We can all pray Joe...... I did and now I am called the obvious shill bidding bidder from the Northwest. If i get the car for 19k (He is still laughing) its the Ebay deal of the young new year.

1662,

I like my car and I don't regret buying it. As Low Miler says, it's in very good shape for it's age and mileage. I do feel that the car's condition was exaggerated but it wasn't enough to disuade me. Maybe my expectations were elevated too high by the seller's enthusiasm. I certainly had every opportunity to back out of the purchase and Low Miler never made me feel otherwise. I broke all the rules of buying a used car (Buy It Now, no PPI, no CarFax) so I accept full responsibility for any surprises that have come along. If I had required a PPI, I probably would have still bought the car but I would have asked for consideration on the price.

Low Miler,

I'm not trying to make you out to be a bad guy. But, in hindsight, I'm not convinced you were 100% forthcoming on the car's problems. I fully understand the nature of these cars and would never try to hold you responsible for every problem I've had. The LH computer failure is a prime example of these problems which are common to 928s. In fact, the car has been fairly trouble free. However there are a few major items that probably should have been disclosed as I have trouble believing you didn't know about them. PM or e-mail me to discuss these if you're interested. I don't expect any restitution (although maybe a good deal on that '88 might be considered, following a full PPI of course ).

My reason for posting was to, once again, advise people to do their homework, no matter how rosey the picture might be. Ultimately, this is best for both the buyer and seller.

Default Good guy!

On another note, I have noticed Sean taking a little undeserved beating! I have personally known Sean for 3 or 4 years and he is a very honest guy! He may not own all of the cars he sells, but he does take every step to insure that the car he is representing is as represented. Just look at his Ebay feedback profile, 99.7% positive with nearly 400 feedback!....come on, give him a break. Isn't the American dream to make lots of money, doing what you love and at the same time, making your customers happy!

Scott it sounds to me as if you believe you got a fair deal, and you are happy with the car. The fact that the seller said "immaculate" and you saw "excellent", or that he said "world-class" and you saw "best I've ever seen" to me are semantics. Seems this guy is on the up-and-up. I guarantee you when I've sold my Porsches (and there have been a few) to friends mostly, I've used the same word -- because I LOVE and RESPECT the car so much. A contraire, I've met ppl here and in person who've told me: "It's a piece of **** really, I don't like it, I just drive it" .....

If you looked at the car, and drove it, and talked about it, and liked it enough to buy it ... then you got exactly what you thought you were getting.

I think the seller is being very gracious, if you had given a particular one of the very well-known 928 performance vendors even 10% this much of a rap he would have replied with all cannons firing ..... and I've heard far far worse about him than the seller we're talking about.

When I've bought Porsches (and there have been a few) the seller NEVER ONCE said "hey this thing leaks like a seive, and watch the 2nd-gear synchro, it's about to go". That was MY job. And I've often bought despite the overoptimistic seller .. because it was still a good deal.

Good heavens 20 thousand dollars for a 1988 S4??? Hmmm this is not right. So Sean, are you shill bidding? Why did you bid on such an expensive S4? This is more like GT pricing, and getting very close to GTS pricing....

LOL! https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...threadid=99788 Right
I can say, with FIRSTHAND KNOWLEDGE, that he:

1. Does NOT own the cars he has sold to date

2. The he does NOT"...take every step to insure that the car he is representing is as represented..."

3. That the ONLYreason his Ebay feedback appears as it does is because the pissed off buyers agreed, through arbitration or otherwise, that they would allow Ebay to remove the negative feedback posted.

In my case (as with 2 others I know of) it was ONLY after multiple legal filings/complaints were filed did Sean FINALLY agree to address the problem, which was total misrepresentation of the vehicle's condition, and ONLY if I agreed to have Ebay remove the negative feedback I posted.

Mind you, this was AFTER he broke a legally binding contractual agreement for a partial refund to cover some of the repairs needed.

4. As shown in the above link, he STILL doesnt have a valid Oregon Dealer's License, which makes EVERY deal open to a $5,000 penalty, by Oregon State laws.

5. Out of the 400 Ebay feedbacks, 325+ are for items <$200, and in many cases items <$25.

6. There is at least one other person on this Rennlist board that knows ALL of the details of my deal & of other cars Sean has sold.

7. I have been contacted by THREE others before my Ebay feedback was pulled who bought cars from him & had to take legal action to get any type of restitution.

8. One of the negative feedbacks posted after mine for a 928 deal was just pulled by Ebay, again only after the pissed off buyer had to go to great lengths to get any type of satisfaction.

So excuse me while I ROTFLMAO, but your post is TOTAL bull****.

Why does the steering wheel look so older than the rest of this indeed superb interior ?

Beautiful car, anyway.

heinrich,

I've re-read my original post and don't feel I was being too hard on the seller. I was only trying to convey that, based on my experience, it is very possible that the car might not be as nice as described. Not a statement of fact, just a heads-up for potential buyers. Whether the description of my car was accurate is totally subjective and I don't state that there was a deception. Incidentally, after buying the car, someone I know who had also seen the car felt that it was not as described, so I'm sure that I'm not alone on this one.

As to whether I got a fair deal, at the time I thought I did or I wouldn't have bought it (who would?). I was prepared to pay more than normal for an very nice example. Over time, I've realised that I paid too much because of a couple of major pre-existing problems. So no, the price wasn't as fair as I originally thought.

So let's move on. Hopefully that '88 is as nice as described and someone here gets it.

After I broke the contractual agreement? Hmmm I was selling the car for someone as I remember and your words were when you got the car " I know you would never sell something like this" And if I had known about Schmidt and there less then upfront approach you know damn well the car would have never seen Ebay through me. I was not hip to them at that time. You got your requested money back and then tried to go back on the agreement because according to you I was supposed to be quiet because you wanterd to be able to sell it down the road..... hmmmmm sounds like Mikey wants to keep a low profile so he can resell car quietly and maybe with a little less then honest approach......

Honestly i have had three negative feedbacks.... and two were left prematurely. I never got a chance to fix things and in one case never had too because the buyer agreed he was paranoid over something I am sure someone I know to be a seething snake had something to do with his feelings. He now realizes I am not the guy (someone, I wonder who that low life might be) painted and was more then happy to remove our negatives realizing the car was sound and as described.......

Hsssssss.....

Your the only guy who has threatened legal action unless they were talking to themselves.

By the way MY OREGON DRIVER LICENSE NUMBER IS 7718579 and my business is registered under Portland Exporters want my tax Id number too Mike "no life " Takata? You make a terrible investigator.

If I just popped cars on Ebay without regard for people's happiness out for only a buck then I can assure you I would be selling Junk by now. My reputation would reflect that. No, I am not perfect like Mike and cannot be 100% accurate but if I have doubts then I will not list it...... I believed in the 22k mile black 1990 GT like you did.....

I wish i had listened to the seller. Boy did he peg you for a nightmare.......

And how is your DRIVER'S License # relevant to an Oregon DEALER'S License?

You make a terrible investigator
LMAO, really?

Try THIS on for size, since you OBVIOUSLY haven't learned a thing yet, Sean.

Oregon Dealer License Status

Oregon Dealer Regulations

Now, you can continue to try & twist the FACTS, but the REAL TRUTH is:

You do NOT have a valid Oregon DEALER'S LICENSE (Your Driver's License is immaterial, so don't keep trying to use that as a smokescreen)

Oregon DMV SPECIFICALLY states:

************************************************************
When do I need a dealer license?

Generally, if you sell even one vehicle that is not owned by you and used primarily for personal, family or household purposes, or for which no other exemption applies, you need a dealer license.
************************************************************
Oregon DMV SPECIFICALLY states that you MUST have these on file as a licensed Dealer:
************************************************************
A bond completed by your surety company in the amount of $35,000 ($40,000 as of 9/1/04)
************************************************************
Unless exempt under Oregon Revised Statute 822.027, have your agent complete the DMV Certificate of Insurance Form 370B included in the dealer application forms package.
************************************************************
Submit fees as follows: $1,001.50 for vehicle dealers or $542 for manufactured structure dealers.
************************************************************
Copies of official photo ID's (valid driver license or valid state-issued identification card ONLY) for all owners, partners, LLC members or corporate officers.
************************************************************
Submit a certificate evidencing completion of eight hours of dealer education.
************************************************************

Now, we've already been through this before, haven't we, Sean?

Sigh... It only takes ONE person to complete that complaint form and briing ALL the cards down around you.

LOL, at a $5,000/vehicle fine for selling as an unlicensed dealer you would be BURIED.

Keep pushing those buttons Sean...

Ah, the first time you've spoken the truth when addressing specific points about your dealer status.

I do however get 6 sales a year in my state if titled to me
Wrong

************************************************************
822.015 Exemptions from vehicle dealer certification requirement:

"...2) The owner of a vehicle as shown by the vehicle title issued by any jurisdiction if the person owned the vehicle primarily for personal, family or household purposes.
If the person has sold, traded, displayed or offered for sale, trade or exchange more than five vehicles in one calendar year, the person shall have the burden of proving that the person owned the vehicles primarily for personal, family or household purposes or for other purposes that the Department of Transportation, by rule, defines as constituting an exemption under this section..."
************************************************************

Goodnight Gracie...
