For Sale: '83 euro 4.7L engine
Gents,
I've got a complete 83 Euro 4.7L engine sitting on an engine stand in my garage. I've had it completely apart, cleaned up, semi-reassembled on the stand to conserve space. The rolling chassis went to a good home but I kept the engine thinking I'd stuff it into my '78 at some point. I believe a blown S4 is in my future so I need to set this engine free:
- block is a US 4.7L with approx 50k miles, purchased from Kibort.
- crank from same block, part of short block deal with Kibort
- two (2) sets of 4.7L euro pistons w/big intake valve reliefs, both sets used but in good condition
- two (2) sets of 4.7L rods
- euro throttle body, fuel dist, etc
- pair of euro heads in fair condition; will need surfacing, guides, and a valve job, includes head gaskets
- polished spider by Dave Shaefer
- set of new rod bearings
- set of new main bearings
- set of new piston rings
- new cam, oil pump, crank t-belt gears
- accessories: starter, alternator, p-steer pump, engine fan
Basically it's a complete engine from the oil pan to the spider, fan to flywheel.
Asking $2500 fob Warrenton,Va.

Mike,
Excuse my ignorance here but do folks who need to replace their s4 engines ever go back with an earlier engine? I don't even know if this is possible or desirable but it seems to me this is a reasonable price on a "new" engine. Best of luck with the sale and your S/C'ed s4 project.
Best,
TUK

Anybody know what it would take to get this running in an L-Jet US car?

Engine is SOLD!! Thanks for the interest and bandwidth.
TUK.... don't know of anyone that's gone 'backwards' when replacing the engine i.e. stuffing an early engine in a later 928. There's quite a few that have put a euro version into a US car but it's generally for about the same model year.

The 1983 is a CIS engine and would not be the easiest way to go. You could do what Kibort did and use a 1984-1986 Euro motor but still use your USA injection. I think he got 300 rwhp. We do have a 1985 Euro motor coming in soon along with the euro borg warner 5sp with short r&p.

Mike,
I think I've already asked, but - where in Warrenton do you live? I lived there for almost 4 years and still have some friends in the area (as a matter of fact was there visiting a week ago) and never saw any 928s

Through what years were the Euro setups more simple as far as the computer and brains went... IIRC someone said through 83 the engine would be a fairly simple drop-in replacement into a euro 78-83. (If you cant tell, I was trying to figure what Euro 4.7L options I have for my car)
Let me know how it goes getting that into your '78. S4 engines are 5.0L correct? as well as GTS? Has anyone achieved similar performance by boring a 4.5 or 4.7 to 5.0? (And obviously it would take much more work on the rest of the engine to come close to the S4/GTS numbers)
I believe a blown S4 is in my future...
