However if you had a Reno I wonder how it worked. I have one in my 87 944S, and if I recall it has 20 amp outputs and no line out.
ugh.

I wish I knew! The picture above is all the info I have.

A general philosophy relating to this car and music listening: Records create intentionality around listening that forces one to engage in the artist's planned sequence of a song. It's the act of "putting on music" that makes you pay attention to the media and decide every 22 minutes or so if you want to continue listening. I like records. I bought this car because I wanted to bring that same intentionality to driving. I wanted to actively drive a car and connect to the engine and the road and the designer's vision of what an elevated state of driving might feel like. To me, the responsibility of owning the car is a responsibility to maintain and sustain that original vision as much as possible, including reinstating the tape deck which kind of combines the two.

I saw a record at my grandparents once. Cool. I think they had to buy music then(?) BTW - I share your thoughts on originality; I have the CR1 deck and its documentation in storage and the CDC1 is mounted in the cargo area as original.

Pack-Rat -> Hoarder -> Collector. A slippery slope. Your place on the slope is determined by the market value of whatever it is you happen to have in the boxes.

I just can't see clear to all myself a "visionary". K still refers to my habit as "hoarding". I call it "preserving the original pieces".

My original Reno is carefully packed and stored. In the car is a Blau Alaska CD head, wired with new to the existing speaker connections next to the passenger seat. The original amp is similarly removed and stored. No original wiring is disturbed, so it can all just plug back together as original when needed. We are starting to see the benefits of originality in the resale numbers.
