Default Wanted, 1978 928 Single Piston Caliper

I am in the process of rebuilding my caliper and I have already purchased front and back rotors new front caliber pistons and seals etc. After taking apart my 928 caliper and cleaning them up, I can see that the driver side caliber that was seized had some corrosion on both the piston and bore. The piston is getting replaced but the bore has some pitting (lower in the bore (not next to the seal grove). I tried lightly sanding with 400 grit sandpaper and using Scotchbrite but the pitting is still there and I can feel it with my finger. I am worried this make cause the piston to seize up again because the bore is not smooth in some parts due to the corrosion.

Does anyone have a passenger side single piston caliper for sale?

thanks.

Hey Tim...

I have a pair of 1980 single piston calipers in good shape you're welcome to, they're gathering dust in the garage. Pretty sure they'll fit, check the #'s and let me know. Cover shipping and I'll get them to you.

thanks for the offer. I'll take them. Can you let me know how much shipping costs? I'm in Canada and USPS seems to be the most economical. FedEx and UPS charge big brokerage fees.

I looked at my calipers and I don't see a part number on them. One caliper has "26" on it. Is it an ATE brand caliper? I looked at the 928 international website and seems like the 1978-1982 928 used the same caliper.

I can post a picture of what my caliper looks like once I get home.

The same calipers were used from 78-81 in the front and 78- early 86 in the rear. You can also get them from any NA 944.

If it is a concourse build you may need to find one with the appropriate date code.

Interesting. So the front calipers on my car are the same as a 944 n/a ? Or just the rears?

I'll weigh them and let you know. They're stock ATE calipers off a 1980. I may even have a couple rebuild kits; will advise.

Hey Tim,

Sorry for the delay... busy time lately and I spaced these calipers. I've got a full set, 2 front, 2 rear off a 1980, they're about 10lbs each, ~$80 FedEx ground to Vancouver. Also a pair of cylinder rebuild kits. Happy to send them to you, just gathering dust in my garage.

Cheers!
