Haggerty has a nice valuation tool which I have used to document current market value with my insurance company:

I know about the Hagerty Valuation tools. Your insurance company accepted Hagerty numbers?

Have you ever read an auto appraisal? Lots of speculation and assumptions, and I have read enough.

Last year, even bought a car which had one done w/in past two years. Assumed the engine numbers matched (which they never checked) and would have significantly affected value. They did match, but point being the appraisal didn't guarantee anything.

Also, the appraisers have general knowledge, but not vast on all brands/models/options, etc., which may impact values.

I am fortunate to have been able to name my own values without appraisals, and been respected in that way. But that's from my own experience, and knowing the market. I hope this helps.

If it's for insurance..a recent thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...s-and-why.html American Modern does not require an appraisal and insured both of my 928's for agreed replacement value at a very fair rate. The others..Hagerty, Grundy, Classic Car Ins, etc., wanted me to pay for the appraisal. I told them what I wanted for agreed value they said they would not insure either of the two 928's. T

OK. It is for insurance purposes and since I didn't have a Bill of Sale for the GTS, they would only go with $60K (not enough). I am with Grundy. My GT is at $32K, which is what I have into it now. I contacted American Modern by email and never heard back. I was familiar with the recent thread. I do have a guy from my detail shop who say he has done appraisals. It's just him getting around to it and pushing him to do it.

I just signed up with Grundy. They allow for pleasure drives. Replacement value was set at $20,000...I think. $316 per year

Good luck with that. Especially if you file a claim.

My friend Roy De Silva is a classic car appraiser. He's appraised some very impressive machines, very knowledgeable and overall just a great car guy to know:

Not too far away in the Chicago area.
