Steering wheel stitching repair

Got a picture of the needed repair area, or is it the whole cover that needs doing? If the leather is not too far gone you can re-stitch it yourself- The leather cover on the rim is re-stitchable in place, while the stitiching on the part that covers the spokes is glued in place- you'll need to peel it partway off to expose the holes, re-stitch and then re-glue it. You'll need nylon (for UV resistance) thread, size #207.
If the leather needs refinishing, best bet is to get some color-matched surflex from Joanne at Colorplus and invest in an airbrush setup. I use this one:

I sent mine to http://www.dallassteeringwheel.com/
Had it recovered, with the same thread that was used on the new seats.
$425
I should see it in a week or so.

Was just looking at steering wheel leather cover replacements from Classic9. $85 including the laces and needles.
I entered my car in a local PCA show a year ago, As part of that I let some guests "try it on". One took the opportunity to use a large stone in a ring to gouge and tear the leather on the wheel. It's a 100k used wheel so not fatal, but it was in VG condition. Still is except for the gouge and tear.
Plan is to mount the wheel on something that will allow the wheel to be secured, then released to rotate so the stitching can be managed and kept even. I need to get the pieces here then make it new again. Will post pics if I have a free hand.

I did my 993 from scratch and my 928 three spoke just needed some stitches. Not hard to do. Prepunched holes make it a breeze just take your time and tuck and glue your ends after knotting off. I would try it yourself. Just have a thimble handy

Fairly straight forward to 'DIY' the restitching if one does not rush the job, and two curved needles plus thread keeps it in the $10 zone; I did one as seen https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...eel-rehab.html in this thread
