How get my non-starter backed out of garage?
My 1981 928 automatic won't start. AAA will come with a flatbed to take it to Sean Ratts. But how do I get it out of my garage so AAA can get to it? Is there some good place to attach a tow rope to the rear of the car so it can be pulled out to the street?
I tried a search for this, but didn't turn up anything. Thanks in advance for your help!

Push it?
Ok..if not that, lower control arm for a nice easy pull to the street works. Yes, it can bend, that would require super excessive force, like a gorilla tying it down.
If you have the OEM tow ring, goes above the lisfence plate...

open the door, push on the door frame and roll the rear tire with your hand. i've always been able to move cars around that way. if it's backed in, get behind it, put your *** against it and push with your legs.

There should be a tow ring fitting in the center of the rear bumper cover, maybe behind the licence plate...My '82 Euro has one.

^This. Assumes you have the tow hook tool. If you attach a rope/chain to the LCA don't wrap it around the flat spring steel piece. It may bend.
I can push mine out using the door frame approach mentioned above

NOTE if you have never used the tow hook it would be wise to read the owners manual first.
So, open the hatch
Then open the tool kit
Take out the tow hook.
Kneel down and screw it into the center of the bumper just above the plate.
NOTE you may have to remove the plate to see the opening. as its at the top edge of the plate
Some PB blaster on the threads will make this work easier.
Disconnect the battery
Refit the tool tray,
Close the hatch.
NOTE try to pull on the hook with as straight as possible a line,
pulling sideways can bend or snap the tow hook.

make sure the tires are inflated properly. also make sure the tow truck driver doesn't use the tow hook to cinch the car down.

Randy, I could have a few years ago, with my wife doing the steering and braking. But now I am a 72 year old widower who needs a cane. Not complaining; just explaining. Life changes as you age. I threw tons of hay bales in my teens and rowed crew in college. If I could still do those I suspect Sean would not have made his great offer.

Sean! With the type of person you are (great by the way), I am surprised you didn't offer to bring your tools and Roger bringing his parts to his garage and just fix it there!
Hope the car gets sorted.
You are lucky as I am to have such great competent 928 mechanics with their personalities close to us (Stan for me).
