need to replace the carpet on the tool panel. How do the two plastic ***** come off?

They aren’t too hard to take out. Just line up the tips of the arrowhead with the slots in the keeper washer and pull the washer off. Then line up the arrowhead with the slots on the tool cover, I think it has slots if I remember correctly, and pull out from the carpet side while pushing from the tool side.
