Default WSM

Hi All 928 Fans, I have finally got with the program and joined the Rennlist family !! It looks like within a short time of searching around the site that I have already learned a few things. I can't wait to explore all of the interesting ideas and knowledge out there. I have a 1982 928 that is all original and runs well but needs some attention in several different areas. My first question to anyone out there is where is the best place to download a true period correct shop manual. Thanks and hope to here back soon !!

Call 928sRUs and order the manual CD. Comes with the WSM (Work Shop Manual) and GBs of additional useful stuff.

If you don't have your owners manual, a lot of good information in there too. Here's the link to the '82: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzC...zQ2/view?hl=en

Welcome. You won't find a more knowledgeable or friendlier bunch of weirdos anywhere.

I have a feeling you didn't read the "New Visitor" sticky. Do so. It is full of useful and valuable info.

The reason I doubt you've read it yet is because one of the useful things it contains is a link to a download of the WSM. "Ligeti" or something like that. Not a perfect copy. A few pages are missing and some of it is out of order. But it's not bad.

Or order the "Moorehouse CD-ROM" set from Roger. $75 and worth every penny. If you haven't dealt with Roger (928s R Us) yet, be warned that his website is...
Sparse. He has everything, but lists very little. Call or E-mail with what you want and you'll get it.

He's a hell of a nice fella, very, very knowledgeable about these cars and a well trusted vendor for us.

And, as is something of a tradition on here...

As Joe posted, the Legeti site will get you 95% of the way. The wiring diagrams start at 1984 though. Not sure why they don't have the earlier ones available. I have a hard copy set at home. They are very useful, but honestly, the MOST useful stuff has been posts from the members of this site. There are TONS of full DIY write-ups with full color photos for virtually every repair procedure you will come across. Use "Search" first, then ask. I've had my 928 for 10 years. I think in that time I've only had a couple of issues that had not been encountered, solved, and documented with photos by someone else, the main exception being when I have had to track down some electrical gremlins and had to follow the WSM wiring diagrams.

Although there are MANY good sites that document a lot of DIY info, here are a few of my favorite to get you started. These are the sites I cut my teeth on when I first started wrenching on the 928. I would bookmark them.
