You need 928 606 148 00 and we stock it for $15.75.
Use that number at your local Porsche dealer as it may be less hassle buying it locally.

Default Belt Tension Light Warning !

I/we did a TB/WP replacement with all new parts and now have belt warning light !
I disconnected belt cover connection and measured wire going to belt cover connection and it reads 12 volts. Is this correct?

What tool did you use to set tension, and what reading did you get? Did you check at TDC after couple of belt revolutions?

Does warning light go out if you ground the TB warning connector?

I've read that when using the Kempf tool on 32V engines it should be tightened to the tight side of the window, so if everything gets fixed and you still get the TB warning this might be the cause.

Simon

Regarding the Kempf tool the consensus appears to be that the belt is at the correct tension when it is at the full end of the range. My experience is different in that I set my belt at the mid range point but then being in a warmer climate may have some impact on this. \

I take it you understand that the circuit has to be grounded to cancel the alarm- the alarm goes off when the ground circuit is broken.

The belt tension has to be set with No1 cylinder at TDC on its firing stroke - this is important.

You should be at the far edge of the tight window on a 32v car. Anywhere but there you are going to get a warning.

I ran out at lunch to help Michael.

UPDATE: There is no continuity on the tension warning assembly, either where the wire connects or at the nipple that fits in the recess in the idler arm. Michael is locking the crank and preparing to pull the lower cover. Tonight we will remove the idler arm assembly to inspect the bits. Initially we did have the tension right on the tight side, we backed it off a bit when we first got the warning light.

Initially the warning only came on when the car was at speed. Now it comes on immediately after the 3 min delay.

We took your advice and went back and checked the tension again, it was loose. It's now set on the tight side and we have continuity, hopefully that was it.

All is good, using the Kemph tool and set on the high/tight side

Thanks to all!
