maybe the way to end this absurd thread would be for potdog to change his advert to something akin to

"this design combined the attributes of the GB and Devek systems into what Potdog thinks is the best of all" - that way it is obvious that he didn't invent the entire thing himself, gives props to those who did prior work, and doesn't claim that parts made by someone else validate his version... Then a customer could check out hte other ideas and decide for themselves which to buy without thinking they are getting GB stuff or Devek stuff.

Personally i'm not ok with people direct copying each other's stuff, but I'm also Not ok with some of the veiled threats going on here, either.

Note - no affiliation to either, fabulous PM/GB stuff in my 928S3 from awhile back, annoyed at this thread's direction.

No. Devek is long gone.

I have no issues with you making or selling it.

But claiming their product as "your creativity" is a bit of a stretch.

And I'm not happy with the threats on here, veiled or not.
But the whole thread is advertising a pirated, counterfeit product (claiming the 'hundreds installed in the US' means you are implying you made the ones in the US, even though it doesn't specifically say that).

When you get your hand caught in the cookie jar, pointing out your brother was going for a cookie first doesn't excuse your actions.

I've been in the 928 community now 25+ years. Many parts for a long time have not been available or worse yet, were sitting in inventory but accessing them was near impossible. That's where people like Roger and Mark Anderson have stepped in and found a way to bring greater access to OEM/OE parts that are tricky to obtain or ridiculously expensive.

The oil baffle here is another situation all together. Porsche never bothered to address this problem with the 928's properly. Many people have come up with some interesting solutions over the years (see Tony's post earlier) and many of these worked very well. Greg came along, spend some time and money testing various designs and came up with something for the benefit of the community.

Then you come strolling in, all smug, and copy his design.

I believe very much in our free market society and individuals such as yourself is what we have to put up with.
What you fail to appreciate (not that I feel you even care) is people like yourself do long term damage to the entire community. What incentive do people like Greg have to continue trying to improve our cars when someone like you comes along and pulls the rug out from under them?

It's really this simple: Porsche isn't going to stop making replacement parts because Roger is offering some other window seals. But I guarntee you Greg is sitting at home asking himself: "Why do I even bother?" and that is not a good thing for our community.
It's also not good for other inventors watching from the sidelines thinking they may too have a good idea for the community. If you do not allow the innovators to recoup their investment and possibly make a bit of profit on the back end, they stop innovating. They'll find a better use of their time.

So congratulations, you are going to make a few bucks off the work of others......hope it feels good.

I just re-read this thread and I'm not catching these threats you guys are talking about. Please point them out to me via PM since I'm a bit confused here.

I think this has gone long enough.
