Default Rear '928S' insignia

All -

Is the Type Designation on the rear bumper ('928S') actually embossed into the bumper plastic itself or is it a decal that should sand off? Need to know how to proceed.

Thanks -

I think I read somewhere that the dealers actually put them on, but I could be dead wrong.

I just removed mine last week, in order to do a re-spray.
Some older threads mentioned Goo-gone and 3M adhesive remover, with limited success.
I used a heat gun and one of those little plastic pry tools you use to service smart phones.
If you can get under a corner, and get a little free, you can pull the decal off whole. Heating about a half inch at a time, and pulling slowly.
The trick is.....the paint. Too hot and that will come off too. Fine line.

If you remove, be prepared for the paint underneath to not be as oxidized. ie., you can see where the decal was.
