Thanks for all the kind words.
Donald,
The DJI drones are crazy smart. If you flight too far from the controller (about 3-4 miles), you get warnings as the signal gets weak, and if the signal is lost for more than a few seconds, the drone stops, and eventually returns home and lands in the exact spot it took off from completely on it's own. You may be thinking, how can it do that since GPS is +/- 30' accuracy...the drone also takes photos of the ground where it took off from automatically for the purpose of returning to the same spot. So you can actually fly the drone 3-4 miles away, shut off the controller, and go in the house and sit down on the couch and the drone will autonomously return home at a pre-set altitude (above the trees) and land where it took off from and shut down.
Here's a shot of the Mavic Control screen which shows the signal meter for the controller and the signal meter for the HD video link. DJI Mavic Pro Screen
If Santa is good to me this year, I'll have a new toy under the tree... DJI goggles that receive the HD signal in 1080P directly from the drone and offer a very immersive experience compared with trying to see a phone or iPad screen in the bright sun. You can also turn on a mode where your head movements control the drone.
