I like that idea. It got me wondering. It would look super pure and light if you also filled in the front and rear marker lights. I don't think I've ever seen a 928 without them. Not sure of the legalities of not having them but cars like Baja bugs don't and they are road legal.

"Van: I have this wild hair idea of changing color. Since the car is currently silver I'm considering painting it a solid light grey (non metallic )."
Do it Van ....previously owned 50th Anniversary was "Graphite Grey" (non-metallic) people loved it. T

I have considered this and I still am. Exact same color I would not be that hard and I am not a fan of metallic colors.
( True "shark" color)

Yep...looks a bit cleaner without the rub strips, bumperettes, etc. T

I'm reverting my 81 back to being a non rubstrip car. A PO added them to hide poor accident repairs.
Still haven't painted the back half of the car so I still need to delete the holes in the rear quarters for the lights and rub strips.
Now You make me want to delete the bumperettes, the passenger side mirror, and rear wiper for that ultimate OB look.
Van, your car should look fantastic once it is all smoothed out!

#2 - As noted, Euro cars didn't have corner markers or the 'bumperettes'. Both were added to cars in the US to meet federal requirements. I'm in the process of 'removing' the 'rubber baby buggy bumperettes' from my car (85 Euro). At some point, likely during federalization, the entire rear bumper cover was replaced with a US version. Mark got a Euro with the correct one in a couple months ago. I jumped on it and it's currently at the painter.
#3 - Corner markers are a federal (DOT) requirement. While it's possible that some overzealous "Barney Fife" wannabe could jump on you for it, I'd put that waaaaay down on the list of stuff I'd be worried about.
