We did trade PMs. He provided a detailed inventory of his build and it is an '11' on a scale of 1 to 10. I did not do a site visit. Just too much car for my needs.

on the 944 side a number of people have been running for about 6-7 years with offset-ground rod journals down to Mitsubishi size (45mm vs stock 52). small journals but good into the 600hp range so far.
944 2.5 stroke stock is 78.9 like a 5.0 928...the offset gets it into the mid-85mm range (almost 928GTS stroke)
Mitsubishi rods are a little narrower than stock 944 but not a big deal with side clearance.
928 rods are 944 rods with what, 2mm milled off one side?
I would think that since the Mitsu rods are built "centered on the pin" like a 944, you could machine meat off of one side on all the rods to compensate for the 928 cylinder offset.
Eagle-brand 4G63 H-beam rods are $350 for a set of 4.

Greg Brown, it's the car built by Marcus Hutchinson and I bought it from Klaus Schoenherr. I think you did the maintenance for Klaus, but I'm not sure if you know any details of the actual engine build, like what crank was used, actual displacement, etc. I'd love some more details on the engine itself, if you have any.

The engine in my widebody was built with forged 944 turbo pistons with dished tops. The builder used Pauter I-beam rods. I'm not sure what crank was used and he's unsure of the actual displacement he ended up with. This was back in 2001 when he hand built the widebody and added a Vortech supercharger that was kind of a FAST kit predecessor, I think.

Greg's ordering the Carrillo rods shortly. Need to buy hydraulic lifters, valve springs, keepers, and new head bolts.

Use DLC lifters....dramatically reduced friction/oil/water temperatures.
I used to use VW lightened lifters, tear them apart, send them out for DLC coating, get 26 (or some other random number) out of 32 returned (with how ever many "rejects"), send out a few more, wait for those to get back, clean them, put them back together. Lots of brain damage...and expensive in both time and cost. I was selling these for $75 and loosing money (Brown School of Business.)
Then INA discovered DLC lifters worked better on engines that were having "cam/lifter" grief (or the manufacturers discovered DLC.) There's now several different lifters available. I think Colin is using a VW lifter that he takes apart and modifies. I use a lifter from a Zundapp Janus Hydrabus II, which drops right in. ($50 retail.)
Stock retainers and keepers....titanium retainers are like a 400 pound lineman taking off his shoes before he gets on the scale.....a complete waste. [As long as there are oil filled hydraulic lifters (relative weight of a medium rock), the percentage of weight from the retainer is a joke.]
Once the mass of the lifter goes down, the requirements for valve spring pressure goes way down....more "free" reduced heat and friction! I'll look at your cam specifications and see what valve spring I would use.

Crankshaft is almost ready. Cross drilling and knife edging is complete. Last step is cleaning up the mains for .25 undersized bearings and 2" rod end journals. The crank has been vat'd, pressure washed more than a few times.
The crank is delivered to me without the plugs. So, now I need to know where I can get the plugs or do others go another way?

Progress is being made. While the '89 heads are out being cleaned and getting PAC springs and retainers, Ferrea locating disks I am gathering up more goodies.
I have most of a pan spacer kit from a local owner.
