For: 225/50/16 & 245/25/16, following can be bought @ Tire rack

PIRELLI P ZERO TROFEO R : $898
TOYO PROXES T1R: $490

Let me know if you know of better tires that match 16".

That depends on the particular tire. The tire "sizes" we quote are not the same overall size and specifications between manufacturers and different model of tires. You need to read the detailed specifications of the exact tire you are considering.

On that note, the Kumho Victoracer V700 is the only 265/45-16 "street" tire I'm aware of existing on the current market. I would spend some time reading some real world reviews of actually using them as street tires before committing to them.
Specifications state:
Minimum Recommended Wheel Width: 8.50"
Maximum Recommended Wheel Width: 10.00"

You can usually stretch this 1/2" or so in either direction, but that's the baseline.

The 285's on my 11" wheels are rated for a 9.5" - 10.5" rim.

Went to Discount Tire, picked up the stock size for my 81 for like $55.00 a tire, no problem.

Those are not D90 wheels, the ones in question are wider and spec a different tire than you purchased.

Finding the 225/60-16’s hasn’t been an issue. Finding the matching 245/45-16 rears is the challenge. i ended up with17” rims way back when because the 16” sizes were tough in performance tires. I have the original wheels with the original tires on them to go with the car, but drive on the 17’s these days because of the narrow 16” selection set.

Original tires were BFG Comp T/A’s. Bricks compared with modern tires.

I'm pretty happy with 245/50-16, common Camaro and Corvette size.
