Is there a union somewhere in the return line that you can open and thus ascertain which section the blockage is in?
If all else fails I wonder if it is possible to cut the line [to help identify where it is blocked] and then safely rejoin it off the car by brazing or whatever. It would be interesting to know why it is blocked and what it is blocked with.

Hi, sorry about the trouble, I’m about to post a thread of my own that has some similarities
so I feel your pain!
This has probably already been discussed somewhere in the thread, so stupid question: Have the fuel injectors been cleaned / refurbished or replaced with new?
Sorry, when I read about mystery troubled cars I read the first few replies and then just scroll to the bottom to see what actually turned out to be wrong.

The coles notes are:
-Full engine rebuild
-Started and ran for a few seconds then stavered of fuel
-The FPR failed, likley do to age and the high fuel pressure
-No tach, so suspected CPS, but all good
-LH, EZK & MAF varfied as fine (tested in my 87)
-During my hunt for the no start issue I accidentaly put a relay in the auto kick down socket, which stopped the injectors
-Spark is good, injectors now firing after fixing the relay mishap
-Fuel pump replaced and working fine, new fuel filter cleaned tank etc
-Fuel pressure tested 80lbs + which led me to determine the return line is clogged

Adam did you remove the tank?
if so then maybe you linked the return line under the hatch floor or maybe a jack or jack stand crushed a return fuel line,
a flashlight and mirror can be used to look through the sender hole.
Crushed lines can happen at the area where they bend up near the rear lower control arm mount.

Basically everythig is new on this car, except the hard lines. LOL I have been reading about different methods to clear hard lines, and an insteresting one is to use an old spedo cable to snake the line. If I can get some air to pass through I should be then able to flush the line with chemicals to remove the remainig material. If that fails I will have to replace the line.

One thing to note is the car had not been running properly for some time, going back to when it was stored in Greece. It sat for 10 years in a very humid environment.

Since they were bankrupted by joining the EEC they cannot afford petrol in greece so running it on olive oil most likely did for it!

Well I managed to snake in about 40" from each end with an old throttle cable, so the blockage is farther in the line. I heated the lower portion of the hard line in hopes that I could get the plug to soften and break free, but no dice. The line looks good, not crushed.
I took a bit of a break and did the replacement of the hood pad. It's nice to walk away and complete another task to releive the frustration.

If the mechanical method(s) you are using fail, maybe google solvents. Also there is a company named Chemtool that makes solvent and cleanser based fuel additives, you can google for their number and ask to speak with their lead engineer. I did for the same issue (that someone here told me I definitely had when it turned out that I definitely didn’t) and he was very helpful. He’s going to recommend their B-12 Chemtool, but call him to ask how long that might take to dissolve the stuff, I didn’t ask but he will know.
Good luck either way!

Difficult to visualise what could possibly have caused such a blockage other than sugar in the fuel tank [a favourite dirty trick of stick insects in the UK].

Whatever the gas is now it’s still gasoline but in a different form; you would think there is a solvent that would convert it back to a liquid, dissolve it.

If all else fails and I have to replace the line I will be cutting it apart to find the plug. Stay tuned.
