So I replaced the windshield washer bottle neck on my car (82) only to find that the replacement part is too long and won’t clear the hood? Has anyone else ever had this issue? I’ve done several searches online and haven’t found any info so I thought I’d try here.
Yes mine extends further into the engine bay so that the hood shock rests on the cap when the hood is closed. Also my new windshield washer 'hose connector' that clips into the hood pops out. Not huge issues but annoying - for the price.
make sure to remove the metal collar before you install the filler neck, and remove the collar from the tank as well, dont overtighten the transition hose clamps

Yes correct number ordered from you in Oct. 2016. This is the only photo I have, but I can get one of the engine bay tomorrow.
Hi Alex,
I will check the differences between the early and the late. It would not be the first time that Porsche put the wrong part label on a part.
Should not interfere with the hood.
Best,
Roger
So basically in order to prevent the hood from breaking the neck on my new filler I was unable to attach the filler to the body of the car so it just lies loose in my engine bay so that I can get the hood down really annoying I’m irritated that I paid $100 for this.
For fun I looked at old photos, the original was exactly the same. It just seems like it should fit in the cutout in the fender. My '89 does not have a cutout but the filler fits tightly against the fender.
