Default cruise control cables S2

Hello
Im in the process of removing as many components as possible from my '85 S2 engine before removing it, and was wondering if someone could clarify how many cables are supposed to be connected to the throttle body. the WSM I have says 4 however I only have two (I have refitted them loosely to show where they go). Also cannot see a cruise control servo anywhere (like the one in the 2nd photo) . Does this mean the PO might have removed it? the car does have a cruise control lever fitted, although I havent checked underneath the dash for an ECU yet

I'm not sure on an S2, however I think if it's an Auto Trans it would have more than a manual trans, right?
Cruse control is located inside the Left fender, you will need to remove the wheel and plastic cover to see it.

Thanks Yes it’s an auto which is why I’m confused! I’ll have a look behind the wheel well once I have the engine out (assuming LHD and RHD are on the same side)

Cable from the pedal, pulls to open throttle.

Cable from the cruise control servo, pulls to open throttle. The CC servo is in the left front wheelhouse area on US cars, nestled in there with the vacuum accumulator.

Cable to the throttle itself in the throttle body, is pulled by either of the first two. Short cable.

On automatic gearbox cars only, there's a TV (roughly: Throttle Valve) or commonly-called "kickdown cable", that is pulled by either of the first two. This one passes through a metal tubing shell that's clamped to the torque tube, with the forward end showing at the firewall above and to the left side at the top of the bellhousing. The aft end connects to the transmission on the right side forward, white plastic end fitting vertical on the side above the trans pan joint.

Thank you! Here’s a picture of what I have to work with to show you why I’m asking the questions!

Clean-up on aisle six!

Perhaps an owner of a similar year can post some pictures detailing that throttle bell-crank, including the cable routing. You'll be looking for similar pictures to see how the oil vapor, coolant and vacuum hoses all fit together under the intake.

Do you have a workshop manual set yet? It's essential as you move forward. There are some less than ideal scanned sets online, links in the "new visitors" thread. Roger at 928SRUS has a much better scanned set on CD, with a slew of Porsche tech publications and detailed systems manuals included. Don't go to the garage without it.

Yes I do have a copy of the PET as well as the WSM and although it only covers an early manual 16v and a 32v so I’m having to extrapolate my auto S2.(forum search has also been a big help) Will order a cd from Roger along with other parts once I have the engine out. I can’t really order parts piecemeal as shipping and import duties to the UK can get Rather expensive.

Roger and Mark (at 928 International) have a bit of experience getting shipments to non-US customers. They offer great support per others who have taken advantage.

I know that there are ROW S2's in the US. Just need to find someone with a camera and a car together at the same time to get the details you need.

he cruise-control was a "standard" option on cars originally shipped to the US by the factory. Apparently it wasn't as universal in other markets.

Here's a few from a '85 Euro automatic that lived at my home in California for a while before moving on to it's current owner in Texas. Unfortunately no good close-up detail shots of the throttle linkage. Plus no cruise control on this one.

Prep'd for surgery (really just cleaning at this point)

Thanks for the photos. Between the WSM, PET and this forum I think I have a reasonable idea where most things go. As I remove components everything is bagged, labeled and photographed. I ve got everything disconnected and am now trying to pull the engine. The bell housing split easily enough- it is missing one locating pin! my (latest) problem is that while a one ton engine crane was perfectly adequate for my Austin healey the boom is a bit too short to centre over the top of the 928 engine. I still hoped it would work with the help of a leveller unfortunatly Ive ending up wedging the engine in the bay at an angle. As using the crane from the side isnt an option (still too short anyway) my plan now is to remove the front bumper and reinforcement bar to gain better clearance, as I have already removed the oil cooler and condenser. I also plan to wrap a couple of chains around the block to give me more lifting and adjustment points.
