A few years ago I decided to go through all the vacuum stuff on my US 83, sticking point was the evap control valve with a leaking diaphragm. Back then they were over $500 new, and none of the used ones I tested were good.

As was said, tech marked it NA anyway same as the gas cap which nobody makes or made a test adapter for.

BTW you aren't talking about trying to convert from CIS to L jet are you?

No I'm not going to try and convert it but I have thought about it since I have a complete donor on hand. I think I might have the smog issue worked out I will find out next week. does anyone know what the PET was used for in the euro cars or what that stands for?

PET is the Porsche parts catalog system, here's the page from the 78-82 European version of PET for the 928.

A charcoal canister system does absolutely no harm. Install the pieces and leave then there.

Although the diagram is from the 'Euro' version of PET, that diagram is for the US market (and the Japan and Australia markers). The exact same diagram is in American PET, which if you don't have, is available here:
