Digging up an old thread. So the 997/986/996 seats bolt straight in. Looks like most of them don't have a flat base with a turned down bit at the front. Any mods required?

Thanks

Greg

The rear mounts bolt right in. The front mounts you have to bolt through square track holes that line up. It's a PITA.

I'll also mention that the ones I did in my convertible are the manual sport seats and they're awesome. I just put anorher set into an 81 Euro S sunroof car and can tell you that the height is tight. The seat backs won't tip forward with the release even if all the way back and all the way down. They move enough to get access to the rear seats, and my son can slip through. I have to recline the seat more than I want to when driving to not have my hair hitting the roof. I'm 6'1" 200 lbs. If I were 5'8" to 5'10" I would be a much better fit in them.

They're still my favorites seats from a comfort and support perspective, but the rails are higher than 928 rails and the seat axk is a lot taller than 928 seats.

FYI - those are 986/996 seats not 997. They may fit better than the sport seats as they have shorter backrests.

Actually if they sit higher they may not suit. I can handle not having the best rear access but height is an issue. I am 6 Foot tall and any sunroof clearance is a must.

If you can post some pics of the fit. Especially the hole line up and how that front lip sits. And even more so a compare of the two seats old and new next to each other as a height comparison. It would be really appreciated.

Thanks for posting

Greg

I thought the gentleman said 997 he must of said 996 but in the excitement of finding such nice seats at decent price i must of missed heard him.😀

Later, I'll measure the seat back heights of my sport seats and my wife's 997 comfort seats, which should be the same height as the 996 seats you have.

Petza today I recieved a pair of 997/987 seats and there are what look like positioning stems that stick down from the rails. They are towards the rear of the seat rails just forward of the holes for the anchoring bolts. Did you have to cut them or otherwise modify your 997 seats?

Drop the rear pegs into the forward of the 2 rear holes and use the bolt through the other rear hole. Those front ones will end up forward of the 928 floor rail and not be an issue. You have to put the front bolts through the square seat rail holes through the front hole in the 928 floor rail.
