Design III 30lb injector use
I have a set of 30lb Bosch injectors to use which I am intending to install into a modified S4 engine. The mods are headers, x pipe, Colin’s Cams (stg II), Shark Tune and modified inlet manifold.
I read through an excellent thread discussing the differences in design between II and IIi injectors so I know these will fit with the correct o rings fitted.
My question is around tuning for the injectors, I know there is an option on the Shark Tuner to select 30lb injectors, are there any other basic changes I should make or is it straight to tuning?
I thought I read on another thread that these might run rich however I cannot find that thread

Sharktuner thinks you are running 19lb injectors unless you tell it otherwise. Dial in 30lb in the appropriate section of ST2 and you are good to go on the stock maps.
I also have 30lb injectors of the Design 2 4 hole type and the only other thing I did was change the duty cycle switchover point to some value my engine will never see. After that you can Sharktune to your hearts desire.

Check the injector part#. If they are the Ford Motorsports M9593-BB302 (Bosch 0 280 155 759) then select 30# in Sharktuner and set the opening-time to 1.20 ms. That should get you pretty close. Send a PM or email support -at- sharktuner -dot- net with any questions.
Cheers,

If you know the injector opening time so much the better but for purposes of discussion, that is only critical if you need to translate accurately a map that was prepared on different injectors. As you will be custom tuning arguably it is somewhat academic. In my case I could not find the data so left the setting as per the stock injectors and then sharktuned to specific AFR's that were load dependent. However if one of my injectors failed I would logically need a new set of injectors and quite possibly a re-tune.

I have 30# injectors along with Colin's cams and S4 valves in an S3 motor. One thing I can say is that Shark tuner has done a good job. It idles a bit higher ( around 900 ). It never stumbles, I can't say great things about gas mileage .... and if I get down to about 1/4 tank of fuel it starts to bark words like " feed me. feed me"

1986 S3 USA Gen II Fuel Injector Question- O Ring SIze
I sourced a set of flow matched Bosch 0280150947 fuel injector (ford blue top, # f1te-05a) generation II injectors with 4 hole to replace the original injectors in my 86 early. The outside diameter of the o rings is 14.5 mm top and bottom.
(1) Are these injectors for the S3 "plug and play".
(2) 14.5 mm o rings - is this correct for the 86. I recall the 87 injectors having a larger diameter o ring
s3 generation II injector
