Interior leather colors
Hi, All
I've found a really great web sight that has all of the exterior colors and years that they we're produced for the 928's. I was wondering if anyone knew of a sight or had a copy of the interior colors that we're available for the 928's and the years they were produced. I'm going to be redoing the seats i.e. repairing, dyeing and/or replacing the leather seats in my car and thought that having this info. would come in handy. Just for the record. My interior is Tan seats with black dash.

There is no good site with this information to my knowledge......wish there was. The following links are to companies that supply replacement interiors for Porsches (928s included) and have a decent color selection as to what Porsche offered over the years.......at least you can see what they look like. There are also many brochures and color guides that show up on Ebay most of the time. Also the parts listings / PET (Porsche GUI parts guide) will have the colors listed for different years for different interior items. You can tell what color dashes, steering wheels, etc were available for the different years. Of course this does not take into account special orders, etc. Remember, Porsche would just about do anything if given the $$$.

In regards to vinyl, I was surfing over on the 968 section of Rennlist and noticed people having good luck with a Vinyl recover offered by Rennbay.com. I'm not affilliated in any way but it sounds like this might be an option for us. Anyone know or used this recover???

Interior colors are detailed in the printed Porsche color brochure by year model. Shows available colors of both exterior and interior and color names.
I purchased mine on eBay for about $10.

Looked on ebay for the Brochure mentioned earlier and didn't see it. Found the replacement seat kits at World Upholstery........... I think that's gonna be the route I'll take. $960 for both front seats (install not included). I still need to identify the color. I'm told the Champagne (not sure if this is a Porsche color or World Upholstery color) is the most common for a 1985 928............ Can anyone tell me what colors where made in 1985 that would be considered a tan color? i.e. Champagne, Palomino, etc.

Hello FeedNfrenZ
Contact the seller dphiloxon on eBay. Do a search for seller using that name. I have bought a variety of Porsche publications from him...great selection, prices, etc. No affiliation...just a satisfied customer. If he does not have what you need, I know of at least 2 other Porsche automobilia sellers on the eBay I can recommend.
Best,
TUK

DON'T do the damn vinyl!
I bought my car in 1999 from a guy who....well, I don't know enough four letter words. He wasn't responsible for it, but at one point someone died in the front seat of my car, and the result was that both front seats had their leather replaced with vinyl.
When I bought it, it had some fairly cool lambskin seat covers. They covered the vinyl....for a reason. You see, when you sat on those things...you sweated like crazy, and your skin stuck to them like glue! They looked great, and I'm sure they were cheaper than the $1000 that I spent on leather to replace them....but they were terrible for comfort!
It occurs to me that if your going to do that... don't. Just buy seat covers- you'll wind up doing it anyway if you go the vinyl route!
