Seanball72,

I had the same issue. It turned out to be a bad connection in the sprare tire well. I cleaned the connectors and like magic, my speedo problem went away. it is a quick and easy Fix to at least try.

Hello Sean,

Congratulations on your new ride. Looks great!

Do you have a paint code? It looks like my "Venice blue metallic" (36P) 35U.

If so, do you notice 3 distinct shades? I see a blue in daylight, a definite grey-blue in direct sunlight, and a midnight blue at night.

BTW, if your dad liked the 928S4 power, he would love the sound with a RMB.

Best regards, and Merry Christmas,
WC

I know the feeling. I just bought mine 2 weeks ago. My aunt let me drive hers back in 1983. I was just out of high school and felt like a kid in a candy store. To be 18 and in control of a monster like that was unbelieavable! I never forgot those days and swore that one day I would have one! Now......... 20 years later. I sold my boat, took the money, went fishing and caught at Shark! Loving every bit of it! Not just the driving and look. I enjoy the whole restoration and fine tuning! Only thing that sucks is knowing what this car can do and not being able to do it! This car talks to you "go ahead........ nail it......... you know you want to". I think it's posessed!

Unless the tires are way off, it sounds more like one of the magnets that triggers the speedo sender has fallen out. I think they are inside the differential. Have to check.

I think Wild Bill has it right. There is another post going around with regards to the speed pick-up problem. Jim Bailey posted that the magnets are in the differential. If one or more fall off, you will notice the speed is too low. Tire sizes wouldn't affect the speed readings by 20%.

Another possibility on the speedo..... Mine is off by 10 mph because when I removed it and shipped it to Austin to have the odometer gear replaced, the needle moved slightly on it's shaft. I've just been living with it since I removing the pod is not one of my favorite jobs on the car.

I had to validate........

So i may have a problem with the magnetics huh? Do you think I need a pro on the case or should I dig DEEP and learn how to screw one up on the fly?

By the way the car has a good color and terrible paint. Actually the sunroof has almost completely peeled away. I guess weather contraction have alot to do with it. I am thinking if a sand blast then a repaint but what is recommended?
