Hershey Swap Meet April 21

Usually we travel to New York in September / October to visit our son and his wife. This year a change of plans and we are travelling April / May. Planning to go either Washington or Boston for this years road trip. If we only had one day for Hershey which day is best? Is there a web page that would have more details or a programme?
Have tried fitting in a 928 event on previous visits but it just never works out.

In the past we all would leave for home after a late lunch. But, last year and this year some of us are staying over one more night and leave to go home Sunday (22nd) morning.
Norm, hope you can join us somehow. You'll have a great time for sure.

What do you all think about going to Houlihan's after the swap meet instead of trying fight the crowds to get into Red Robin? We can reserve a space and it looks like they have plenty of parking - even a city garage next door if required.
It's right on the corner of Park and Chocolate Avenues.
Large Parties Welcome
Call us to reserve our banquet room or to make a reservation for a large party. It's right on the corner of Park and Chocolate Avenues.

agreed, Red Robin is no longer desirable. Can't sit together, and can't get in fast. The place Rick mentioned was really good, back in town near the White Rose. George, your suggestion is probably good too. so long as it is not too close to the Park, crowds should not be a big problem.

I get down that way all the time, I know a couple really nice places. Harper's is good for prime rib, the Batdorf has nice pub food and a back deck if the weather is decent, and there's an amazing Italian place in Annville called '"Fabio's".

The White Rose is changing hands as of February 1 and is not accepting reservations beyond that date. The current plan is to contact the new owners of the White Rose after February 1 and make reservations. If the White Rose does not work out, we will get a block of rooms at the Comfort Inn at the Park, which is on the Harrisburg side of Hershey.
Depending on if Trinity or Cat makes the trip with me, I could split a room if they run short. I snore pretty bad., but I don't fart too much...

We should consider these for evening meal, but I thought last year's Dukes was just right.

Hotel Update - Comfort Inn at the Park is going to be around $200 per night in April. That leaves less money for Porsche parts. While we still await news on the White Rose, I have scouted out two alternatives. The first is the Days Inn on Chocolate Avenue which is the traditional multi-story box with a parking lot around it. Like the Comfort Inn, it is on the Harrisburg side of Hershey. It should be about $135 per night. The alternative to this is the Red Roof Inn in Palmyra, which is approximately the same price but an older property laid out like the White Rose. Advantages to this location include speedy access to the traditional breakfast spot, proximity to the spray and wash for washing your shark and rooms that directly access the parking lot/piazza.
For future reference, the hot ticket in Hershey is the brand new Super 8, which purportedly cheap, nice and unfortunately already sold out for that weekend. Also for future reference, NEVER click on "Groups" on a hotel chain website and expect to be contacted by anyone who knows their *** from their elbow. Just call the hotel direct.
Let me know your preference please - Red Roof (tired but convenient and a White Rose like ambiance) or Days Inn - (modern big box, a long trek for more cigars and vodka).
So far I have six private messages confirming interest. Adding Rick (who we know cannot follow directions of any kind) gives me a total of seven rooms. If you are in, please let me know with a PM.

Rodeway Inn and Porsche maintance
Otto: Arthritis dictates using Panos more, hence conserve funds. I got your cell from Rick: and called: "The person you are trying to contact has a VM box that has not been set up" Doesn't sound like you. So I'm here with further update. Just spoke with WRose, The closing on WRose has been pushed back to end of Feb. They are taking reservations for previous groups, who have stayed with them, i.e., shooters, wrestlers, basketball, and Porsche w/o taking a credit card (she is security minded) with intent to pass info on to new owners. The whole thing is iffy to me, you know LAWYERS are involved. So I called Nick at Rodeway Inn, 1733 East Choc Ave , right next to Dukes. He offered a group rate of $69 for rooms with single bed. I'm voting to go with that.
I told him I would get back to him today. I'm not trying to barge in, if you want to call, his number is 717-533-four, five, double three.

Group Rate for "928"
OK, no affiliation, I just spoke with Nick (number in post above) at Rodeway Inn, 1733 East Chocolate Ave., Hershey 17033, said there would be 9 of us calling. Ask for group "928"; group rate for single room, $69.
