Default 928 Nice Price or Crack Pipe on Jalopnik

A less than stellar example of the breed. Comments will undoubtedly reflect many myths and legends.

They're not too fond of the 928 over there, are they? Nor do they know the difference between an OB and later models.
Who knows about the mechanicals on it, but that interior is very nice!

Good luck getting a comment to be visible over there. They filter them. Everytime I try to correct an error in their report on a 928 it just lives forever in the pending comments. For example the author says that this car is an interference motor and that the TB should be changed before attempting to start it.

I posted this car in the for sale thread about a month ago. I think the days of sub ten grand pasha OBs in any condition are coming to an end sooner than we think.

I tried to correct them on the interference motor comment as well, and gave up. It's way too much trouble.

I vote 'nice price'. It's a 5 speed with Pasha. Whatever it takes - grab a wrench and a paint gun and get busy.

Pacha seats in fairly good shape, 5 speed, early 78 (has early door vents if my eyes are right), no sunroof..

Good candidate for a competent DIYer to go through, milder version of the the Minerva car IMO. Paint wouldn't be original, but thats less of a problem than interior.

I concur, nice price.

I am going to make a blanket statement and state that there is no such thing as "nice original Pasha". This stuff doesn't age well and will fall apart with use.

I like the car but in the end, as with most of them in this price range, it needs everything.

The tattered old girl pulled off a narrow 52 percent win, which actually doesn't depress me. Bones are there but it is needy car.

This car is near me, I can check it out if someone is seriously considering it. I talked to the owner and he's a very well established Porsche guy. If you want a 78 manual pasha car that's substantially complete it's an OK price I think...but keep in mind if you want to end up with a nice car (like Ed's, or my green cars, mokka, red witch, minerva, etc)* in the end it needs everything that many WORSE condition 78 manual pasha cars need as well. If seats have split seams they need the same upholstery job as trashed seats, If a dash has one crack, its still cracked just like one that has 10 cracks, and it all needs to come out to be replaced. So if you're going to go this route (and its a loooong expensive journey) look for the colors / model/ configuration you want. If it happens to be white with cork, buy the car right now. This car was on CL for a month through December, I think if it was petrol, any color green, orange, yellow, or hellblau it would have sold in one day.

The Jalopnik piece is the same regurgitated crap that uninformed journalists have been saying about these cars for 40 years.

* examples used as early model comparisons, there are of course many more fantastic cars in the community

Heck, the fog light trim is worth the purchase price!
