Default A/C Pump missing

Hello, all, I've been looking at a few older model 928's and one is a 79 but has no A/C pump at all. it's been removed and is gone. Just saw on 928 International that it's $2800! Is this the only option? Are there a cheaper aftermarket available? That's half the price of the car.

I'm guessing that's because it's the older style. Can you retrofit the more recent Denso pumps? The one for my '86.5 was less than $400 or $450.

AC compressor should be about $500 from Griffiths or Roger at 928Srus assuming you can make an 80 work in a 79. Lots of other stuff needed to get AC working again.
Good luck,
Dave

also check the mounting points on the engine block to be sure that the compressor was not broken off the car by bottoming out. That is how engine blocks can get broken.

Aftermarket will be the way to go unless you want it original. I you do need original I may be able to offer a rebuilt factory unit.

Aftermarket would be fine. I'm just now looking for a car so don't actually have one yet. Thanks for all the feedback.
