Question if it wasnt made what would you want

Now it seems theres alot of people that have finished cars that might be looking for cosmetic items. i know theres a few companies out there but they also rape you on price, If you havent found it what would you want?Im looking to get a few things made up for myself and im just trying to see what other people are interested in.

I think you might have to be a little more specific as to what you are trying to do.

In regards to raping 928ers on price, if you factor in the time it takes to develop and test such products and the cost of manufacturing them in small quantities, liability insurance, etc. you can quickly see that they are not getting rich.

The question is, is it better for you to spend your own time creating something, or going to work, making the money, and buying what's already been developed and tested. I think that's an individual choice, based on each person's time, income, and risk tolerance...

its not the matter of testing equipment but as go from one material to another. For example: radiator mounts from steel to aluminum. Carbon/kevlar pieces instead of plastic, Intakes like mine, different gauges instead of vdo,pod switches correctly made not smooth and so on. As prices for what i had mentioned one company charges $200 to $400 dollars for item kit (pod switches) unlike another company in germany thats a quarter of the price. To me it was a interest of what other people would want. To make money off fellow 928s from this site for small significant items is a waste of my time. If and when i do make something obviously ill show it off like the intake if someone is interested ill tell them what it cost to make and if its worth it. Just like the offers i had on the intake set up i did.

1. Carbon fiber interior pieces just like they make for 911's and Boxsters. The center console piece would be awsome in CF.

2. The new 18" 996 5-spoke wheel (the ones on the 40th anniversary 911) in offsets for a 928.

3. A place to put a center channel speaker so i can upgrade to 5.1 audio.

John, the 18" Carrera wheels fit if you use the Boxster ones.

John,

You can get the carbon fiber center console section from Jager. I have it in my car and it looks awesome. I also have the carbon fiber around the shifter base.

I also have the Jager bezels and even though I went for the plain aluminum finish, after I saw the polished versions on this forum (from another company) I polished a few of mine using a buffing wheel and they look great ! In the coming weeks, I will do all of my aluminum items like that.

Anders & John,

I'll take some shots of the interior and post them.

Reverse glow guages and needle that interface with the normal light switch --or-- Digital guages. (waiting to get flamed on that one)

drewster,
NOS kits for the 928 are similiar as ricers. Check NOS web site, roll cages can be custom made instead of a autopower roll bar and the front chin i believe devek has them or has used them on there white car, s/c kit is out but needs a little work its a mix of 16v and 32v set up.

Generally, my beef with Porsche is as follows:

1. Crap quality of dash/pod materials
2. Similar level of quality seen on other interior panels
3. Door handle design
4. Front spoiler design
5. Wiring layout

Disclaimer – I understand very little about electrical engineering, so my complaint about wiring can very well be proven to be baseless. I do, however, fault Porsche engineers for the other four items – there is no good reason for them to be as bad as they are. Mind you, my car is was made during thirteenth [!] year of the production run – one would think that Porsche has enough time to work out the kinks…

As far as aftermarket upgrades – essentially as listed – stronger spoilers (mine’s Kevlar now ), replacement dashes (not for $1000), etc.

I'd really love to see a Phat928 style conversion for the dash pod.
Something with guages already installed in the pod, and comes with all the sensors,
and wiring, so you could hook it all up in a weekend...
The new pod made from something more durable,
and more sun-resistant... Carbon Fiber, perhaps?

How about that as a stand-alone option?
Carbon-fiber replacement pod?

I too, would like to see a cheaper replacement front spoiler.
Something in fiberglass, maybe with a rubber skirt,
that perhaps looks different than the stock spoiler...

And I would still love to see a bolt-on lens conversion for the s2,
to upgrade to an s4 look, flush with the rear bumper cover...
Unbolt the old lens, bolt on the new one. Longer bolts, but
new plastic, that extends out farther, and fills the gap...
I love the round rear of the s2, but the lenses are dated.
