parts to fabricate
I want a replacement compartment for the two rear seats. It would be lockable with a door into it for each side. Maybe it could be removeable so I could take it into motel rooms with me with all of my stuff inside.
I don't use the rear seats. I don't have any children (about which I know), and I would not sit back there sober if there was any way out of it. I stuff things back there but they fall on the floor. I installed straps to stop that. Mickey Mouse solution. And such compartments could be finished as the RS interiors are finished: in black felt. Functional, light, secure. Never mind what I would put in there.
The compartments would fit into the space occupied for each individual rear seat and still allow use of the rear air. Maybe Santa Claus will bring me some in a couple weeks......

I want an FMS for my 928....
-Right now, Connie Kalitta, the drag racer who owns the company that I fly for, is starting to rip out all the mechanical instruments from our aircraft and replace them with modern Flight Management Systems courtesy of Canadian Marconi.
Tony from Vegas can probably tell you more about this stuff than I can- I've never actually used what is known as a "glass cockpit".
Essentially, via some clever rules changes, the FAA has made this changeover take place [basically a way to destroy the non-scheduled airline industry....but don't worry: We're kind of like cockroaches....] effective 2005. This means that expensive gauge changes need to take place, or the airplane is grounded.
Well, that's for a different channel. FMS involves flat panel displays in lieu of all the instruments that we normally have. This electronic display is light-years simpler and easier to maintain, and has tons more possibilities. It first showed up in the 757/767 airplanes during the 1980's, and it is about to come HERE.
The Carerra GT has a flat panel display instead of a tach and speedometer. I'm 100% certain that someone can built a flat panel display and contoller that could replicate the gauges of a 928! And I'm sure that flat panel could be mounted in-lieu of our current panel.
Think of the possibilities: Nearly infinite gauge designs, done instantly, and instantly brought back to stock. And there could be only the most basic information: Tach and speedometer. A system could be worked up so that if for example, your coolant moved toward the red zone, out of nowhere a guage could open a window on your display and present itself....along with suggested corrective action.
like.... "Pull over and shut off the engine YOU IDIOT!"
THATS what I want. I want a digital display that is shaped to fit exactly in my dash pod-

Normy;
A flat panel display, like the one you are talking about for such a limited market like the 928, would cost well over a hundred grand to develope and market it, so I think it is out of the question for most of us guys. Can you imagine the wiring integration chalenges with that fuse panel down by your feet (my back is aching just thinking of it)
BTW - I have been flying flat panel cockpit displays for 18 years - 767s, and A300s and they are really nice - and expensive too!

Hmmmm. Would be a challenge. ~3 small LCDs (4" maybe?), a small computer to intercept the read/decipher the signals and drive the LCDs. Monitoring software probably could be hacked out from a software already used in PC health monitoring.

drewster,
NOS kits for the 928 are similiar as ricers. Check NOS web site, roll cages can be custom made instead of a autopower roll bar and the front chin i believe devek has them or has used them on there white car, s/c kit is out but needs a little work its a mix of 16v and 32v set up.
