Default Instrument cluster "@*^&! CR**

I cant believe that I just dropped my instrument cluster. Broke the speedometer needle off , and bent the voltmeter .Crap!! So Is it true that you have to have the thing programmed to your car? I read that on an ebay auction. And I just replaced the odometer gear too!

There is no programming on those so don't worry about that portion.

You can send your speedo off to Palo Alto speedometer and have it fixed, or get one from 928 International.

Give Mark Anderson, at 928 International, a call Monday, George. He'll tell you the truth, and probably has what you need to repair or replace yours. His Holiday Sale is on, and all used parts are 50% off.

That sucks. You can also contact Buz Ras at Seattle Speedometer. I had a broken speedo needle and he found me a spare for a reasonable price.

Go on eBay and buy a cheap gauge cluster and use the needle(s) from it to fix yours.
Can be any of several different models, not necessarily a 928.

At least you only have yourself to blame,
When I had my cluster out to replace the odo gear, I played it smart by doing it in the living room on a clean table, ...after a quick break before reassembling, I can't find the speedometer needle.
....I forgot I have cats..
Luckily I found a complete cluster on fleabay for only $140, ....all I needed was the speedometer needle.
that was one expensive cat toy.

Paul, the shaft broke/ snapped off also, along with the needle was crushed. Are you saying that the speedos are the same from say a 924? We have one at our local Pick-a-Part.

You can take a look, but I think the 924 & early 944 has a significantly different cluster. Later 944s have a very similar one.

One of my cats stole the intensive washer button, and almost got away with that little metal part that is part of the pod-mounting hardware. Fortunately I found that one...

Thanks so much guys. I am working on some parts form the boneyard. If that falls through then I will call Mark. I think I'll be OK. I appreciate the offers.
