No photochopping here Dave!! It really is IN THE GAME!

Except it's for the PC version only. The main reason I didn't buy a PS2 or Xbox is because you can't mod the games!

I bet if I put 993 wheels on it and painted it black, it would just about be enough to get you to buy the PC version!

Very nice stuff.

How can you mod it? Can you import/export car models into it?

Interesting this 928 is in the game. I noticed on the Xbox version both Ferraris look very poor. Infact so bad they don't appear to a real testarossa, but a copy cat because I figured they didn't license any of these cars.

The 928 above is so damn close you'd get sued if you don't have a license to do it. Rockstars new game is so damn violence its already banned in New Zealand and will certainly grab some bad PR here.

It's a user made model, Tom. Its actually modifed from the NFS Porsche Unleashed GTS model.

If I can figure out the colour data I can probably do Big Dave's car before bedtime tonight!

The PC version is completely customisable. Custom cars, buildings, roads, bridges, custom islands, planes, even story lines. Of course you ahve to download the TOOLS and do it yourself - but it's DO-ABLE!

Licencing and all that doesn't really apply to user-made models, as they are totally free.

Rich:

If you can, I'll be out getting my copy of the PC version.

Can/did you edit the sound/performance attributes to resemble the 928, too?

(I feel my inner geek fighting to get out)

I'm just delving into sound editing now..

EVERYTHING is completely editable, it's just a matter of learning how.

Geez....I still can't get over the amount of detail in those pictures...incredible.

You've got to PM me with how I can import that stuff (and maybe email me the file for the 928).

Very cool - the level of detail is very impressive!

You can even see the washer fluid bottle located forward of the engine cooling fans.

Yeah it's a ton of fun! I didn't know you guys would be that interested in it or I would have posted some pics sooner.. like this one:

http://www.toejamsplace.com/main.php...potd&potdid=51

I have some more too if you guys want to see 'em.

And yeah you can change all the attributes, handling, sound, wheels, etc. (changing some of that, for example, the wheels, will require installing seperate 'scripts')

Is there a DYI site for instructions on how to modify Vice City? How do you get the files for the 928 into the game? Do you need to replace an existing vehicle (i.e., change its skin)?

Yes there are tutorials out there... I'll try and find you one of the better ones.

But basically, you use the utility "IMGTOOL" to open a couple vice city archive files and replace the 2 car model files inside these(depending on what car you chose to replace... it's easiest to just replace a car but there are other ways to add). And you can open a text file (which contains all the handling, power, etc info) and paste in the correct info (supplied by the car creator)... or customize it to your own likings.

Dave - I got the cup2 wheels on there.. (sorry can't add calipers... yet...)

Now I just gotta figure out how to edit the colours..

Cars looks a little out of place with those 993 wheels in 1986!

Also, yeah - You only need one tool - IMG_Edit - to replace cars - and yeah, you gotta _replace_ cars. For example the 928 replaces the Hotring Racer, and the Batmobile replaces the Deluxo. But you can choose which cars you want to replace - as long as they have the same amount of wheels/doors/seats.
