Default I bought a 79 for parts last yr......

It was already someone`s parts car but had the complete drivetrain intact. I used the driveline parts for my 5 spd. conversion. Now, I have a complete unmolested 4.5L engine and a good 84 auto trans setup from the flywheel back. Engine is not seized and trans came out of my running 84 w/90K miles. Is there any value or interest in this stuff? Taking up room in the shop. Located in the Phoenix area.

Nevermind, yours is going to be a 4 speed correct?

I've got a customer in Alabama who is going to need a 3 speed trans. I told him i'd keep an eye out for one. His car won't be back here until next year for its yearly visit unfortunately.

I would second what BC said the 4 speed auto is a better trans for the 928 that will be doing a good deal of hi speed driving.

My only gripe with the stock 4 speed in the huge change in ratios between 2nd and 3rd gear.

It would be a much better (more fun to drive) unit if it had the even gear spacing of the 3 speed units.

The 4 speed does get you an overdrive gear so you will get massive gains in fuel economy over long distance driving at speed.
