Tony Lapine's Son Hans on Jay Leno's Garage
Hans Lapine was on JLG to talk about the 914-6. Jay mentions his dad Tony in the beginning with a picture of him and the 928. The rest of the video is all about the 914.

Hans hangs out in some of the 928 Groups on Facebook. Pretty cool guy.

Jay has mentioned the 928 in at least one other episode....but it was fleeting. It's kinda pathetic that we all end up saying something like "at 8:20 he mentions the 928" or "at the beginning there's a picture of a 928" and we replay that 5 seconds of Jay talking trying to extract hints of his 928 approval. It would be nice if he just did a 928 episode. Jay has demonstrated often that he appreciates anything with cylinders and wheels. He has also demonstrated he is fascinated with historically significant designs, even underdog and controversial ones. He needs to do an episode on the 928. It's overdue.

I agree. That would be nice to see. Who knows. Of course if Singer ever does a 928 I'm sure it would show up there. Or maybe even Magnus Walker with his '78.
Last year I emailed Petrolicious to lobby them to do a 928 video. I sent them the link to Curt's video on Alex (VanD) and his cars. I got a reply the next day from their editorial director who really liked Curt's video and said he would reach out to Alex. Well they never did and a few weeks later they came out with what I believe is their worst video and it "featured" the 928. If you saw it, it spotlighted a yellow 928 from an owner in Iceland, who also drove a MB 500E. The title includes both car models, a first for a Petrolicious video. What was worse for us that like to see the spotlight focused on these cars, is that the owner basically admits he knows very little about he 928. So instead of getting a video featuring someone like Alex who knows a ton about the car and its history, we got to listen to this guy talk about the influx of Icelandic tourism and his job as a pilot. It sucked. So yeah, I hope Jay does a feature on a 928 soon and I hope Petrolicious revisits the 928 with a more knowledgeable owner.

There's a way to contact Leno, he's available. I think he'd do it too. He did an episode with the Jensen Interceptor, where the owner drove it out from back east. We just need to get him the best 928 available to represent the car. A sleeper, with one of Doc Brown's stoker engines in it!!

Or also have Greg in the shadows to bring out Rob's stroker after they talk about Minerva.

Better yet...Jay should BUY a low mile Minerva blue 928 with Pascha interior and a conspicuously loud exhaust (hmmm...where might he find one??) and put a framed poster of the picture of Tony and the 928 on the wall behind the car....then invite Hans back to be part of the episode.

I'd rather see Minerva on there instead with Rob & William detailing the restoration. It doesn't do the 928 justice to have a "hot rod" version out in front. Show how good a perfect stock one is.

Cool vid, have a friend who built up a yellow 914, similar to that one, however he did fuel injection with after market ECU's.
Hans (Tony's son) purchased a Black / Burgundy '86.5 (928) from a local Porsche guy here in Detroit a few years ago, I drove it and it was a very nice example.
Edit: wonder why he didn't mention people putting 928 V8's in a 914, I've seen em
Thanks Nate!
