I have an 89 S4 with digital cluster and some interesting things are happening. My original cluster had an LED burn up and in a puff of smelly smoke I lost the functionality of:
- Lighted Gear Selector
- Brake Light Check
- Brake Pressure Check (E brake works)
- Voltage light

I purchased a replacement cluster but have different issues
- Voltage light and gauge are intermittent
- Brake Light Check does not work but if break bulb fails I get the big message in the center cluster

I have cleaned connectors and researched that on the older cars it appears the warning lights are controlled from a box under the dead pedal. I don't have that box and I believe the warning lights in the digital dash are controlled from the dash.

I did do the LED conversion and on lights not functioning I put in functional bulbs with no effect. I have also cleaned the connections and grounds.... thoughts?

I was going to have the original cluster rebuilt but no one fixes the digital clusters.
