Smoke after engine rebuild
If you guys recall my car had a crack block and the car have been in the workshop since. I manage to sources another block and head from another 928 around here.
Today I test drove the car as the rebuild is done. The mechanic said i needed few things which is The fuel pressure regulators, Oil pump sensors and injectors.
What I notice today is
When He starts the car- The car will produce a puff of dark grey smoke from the exhaust. and the smoke will be gone during idle.
During traffic,I followed the car from behind- What I notice- The car will have some smoke from the exhaust at certain times. Eg. Stop at traffic light -and you press the gas pedal I saw the smoke coming out from the exhaust and the smokes stop. and smoke will comes out randomly sometimes during drive at traffic. During idle or at low speed- No smoke at all i notice
I ask the mechanic- He said I must drive it at least long distance for a while then it will be gone. Then I will have to bring it for the first service.
Ideas? The smoke smell a bit like fuel but i'm not pretty sure.
I've spend so much already on this car.
FYI- 2 times the engine is pull out because of non stop smoke from exhaust during the 1st time rebuild due to the original head is crack

What does the smoke smell like? In other words, does it smell rich, or like oil, or something else?
