Front air dam repair
1984 928S
One of the PO obviously hit something with the front air dam and broke it at both corners. He used zip ties and interior panel plugs to fix it. Well I think the car looks pretty good but thought the chin spoiler was an eye sore. So this was my attempt to make it look better. It still not factory new looking but I'm happy with it and looks good from about 5' away if your looking at it and it doesn'
t draw your eye to it like it did with zip ties.
I plastic welded the pieces back together so I could make a backing piece. I made the backing piece from an old inner fender liner I found on the side of the road. I laid the cut out piece of liner on tin foil and used a heat gun to soften it up to where I could form it behind the chin spoiler edge. I also trimmed a piece of an old license plate to fix the two inner most mounting tabs. I used Permatex Black Plastic welder to adhere the pieces together and let them sit for about an hour before handling. After an hour the repairs were very solid. I filled in the old repair holes with the same stuff and ground it down to a fairly smooth finish. I didn't want to go to smooth and reveal the old spots and crack. I then used a little black trim paint and reinstalled. Like I said not show quality but looks a heck of a lot better.

Here a couple of better pics out in the day light. I may still do a little more work to it, but I needed to get it back on the car and get it off the jack stands. But I still think it looks better than the zip ties.
