Default AFS..identifying stamp

According to the WSM,when checking the values of my air flow sensor, there are 2 sets of values to go by, pre 042 manufacture and post 042 which is stamped on the AFS housing. Looking at my housing, which stamping on the housing is the manufacturing stamp? I see 3 different set of numbers and a stamp on the plastic cover.Which 1 do I go by? Thanks !
Chuck

ps...car is a 1982 928s.

This number is amazingly hard to find. I held three of these things before I finally spotted it.

I don't have a picture at the moment - I will get one for you later on this evening if nobody else posts one.

BTW: I found that one of the test numbers in the WSM for the second generation (newer) AFM are wrong - there is a correction in one of the service bulletins that are part of the Jim Morehouse documentation CD set. I *believe* that I wrote a previous post that mentions which number was wrong.

You have a 1982 - you almost certainly have the newer AFM. My *guess* is that only the 1980 models (first generation) have the earlier AFM, with the earlier specs.

I filled the number with white chalk and then drew a yellow box around it. It is still almost invisible!

Once again, you almost certainly have the later model. Don't be confused like I was concerning the WSM test spec error!

David, thanks for the pic! I never would have looked there. All of my readings matched the later AFS specs, except 1,which sounds like it may have been wrong in the manual.I,ve been going back and rechecking values on just about everything as I continue to chase a poor running issue. Looks like the AFS passes as it did before. Thanks again. Chuck
