Engine bay harness come out through the cockpit?
To be more specific, if I am removing the entire wiring harness does the main harness (not the FI one) best come out through the cockpit of the car. In other words pull it out of the engine area into the cockpit?
It looks like it but wanted to ask.
Holy cow there is a lot of wiring on an S4!
Thanks gentlemen

By 'main harness' you mean the one that runs along the right fender to feed the headlights, fan, etc?
If you have to remove it, it'll be easier to (actually you'll _have_ to) pull it from the interior into the engine compartment. And it'll be a PITA, you'll have to pull up the carpet along the right seat to fish out the fan control box connectors, among other things. Below is a video survey of the front harness from an '87 Automatic.

And Yes, S4's have a lot of wiring.

If this is a harness that runs to the cooling fans and distributor coils you need to pull the engine - Kevin W and I did this with his charred harness on his 87.
