Default FOUND - WTB: Sport Seats

I am looking for a pair of sport seats of the second generation (~'86 and up).

I would prefer them to be in dark blue perforated leather in good condition which is the interior color of my 1988 MY car.

Otherwise, any color and conditions would be okay since I would need to recover them.

I live in Portland, Oregon so shipping is going to be of some concern.

If you have something please send me a PM.

Yes, I realize that I am asking for something specific, and a bit rare. But I did see these same seats come up for sale not too long ago. Wondering if the owner may want to sell them or maybe one of the parts supplier, like yourselves may have them. Can't hurt to ask.

My other options would be: 1. re-cover existing 928 sport seats; 2. Convert 944 sport seats to 928. Seems like the main difference is the center padding or; 3. Have Robert Budd convert standard seats to sport seats by welding on the support bar and added foam $500 + recovering.

I believe Paul Champagne was converting the frames. I wonder if he would sell just the parts.

It sounds pretty involved in speaking to Robert. I would leave that particular job to the experienced.

Stan (Mrmerlin) had a pair of black sport seats for sale awhile ago. You can PM him to check if he's sold them or not.

I bought an earlier manual pair for the '84 that I will rebuild. These are, as mentioned, interchangeable with the 911's, and are quite light (if you care abut such things).

Squawking 7500 here

I find the 928 seats so comfortable I'm looking to put a set in my RV. If someone has a set that is salvageable I'd be up for recovering them. Gray leather powered would be a plus. Any year would do.

Default A path forward

Thanks to some useful PMs I’ve commit to a different path. I found some 944 manual non sport seats which are being sent to Robert at Classic 9. He will conver these to 928 sport seats: bigger bolsters and 928 specific inserts and recover with matching leater to my car.

Got it the seats today. They arrive at Robert’s tomorrow. Thanks for all your help. I’ll post updates on the conversion process

here are the donor candidates

the seller of the seats is local to Robert so he is dropping them off.

When the seats are finished, they will be sent by bus for $90 from Detroit to Portland. Seems reasonable.
