Default 79 ROW -Fuel set- up puzzle

Ok gents - I'm working on replacing/ rebuilding items in the rear of the car. Pulled the cover off wheel well to view the fuel filter and the accumulator and then the cover below the tank to see the fuel pump or pumps I thought.

It appears that I have only 1 high pressure pump and the strainer in the tank. From what I've read, the CIS should have an in tank pump- but mine does not?? It ran fine - I'm just doing preventative maintenance replacing the rear lines now etc. Was this something that they did as an upgrade back in the day(remove the in tank pump?).

Another question is do you have to drop the tank just to change the fuel line from the strainer to the pump? There is no way I could get to the line as is - back plate seems to be attached to the tank band supports. Cross referenced the part# and its a Bosch 0 580 254 984 - specs 72.5 psi at 5 bar & 43 gph. Thanks for any help.

Your setup is the same as in my car. To replace the high pressure flex line you need to drop the cradle or at least partly.

The in-tank pump was only fitted for hot and high places - my 83 CIS ran fine with only one pump at up to 120F in Saudi.
