Can't remember now, is the carpet cut out around the base of the accelerator pedal so that it mounts directly to the floor, or does the base of the pedal rest on top of the carpet with the two bolts going through the carpet?

To be clear, I'm not referring to the floor mat, I know that is cut out around the base of the accelerator.
