Wow I had heard of a place like that..never seen it.
I appears that the only 928 prototype they have in that facility is a seating buck built in 1972.
The author of the Jalopnick piece calls it out as: The sheet was covering it, but here’s Porsche’s car of the future circa 1978, the Concept Car Type 995. It was meant to preview what technologies future cars use, and it had a double-clutch transmission, an aluminum body, and a turbocharged 3.0-liter V8 with cylinder deactivation for better fuel economy. I’d say they had it nailed back then.
But this clearly looks like the 928 seating buck described and photographed in "Project 928"
i've killed a few hours pouring through these pictures...the more you look, the more there is. I really like the rear body design of what looks like a 924 prototype...a higher/smaller rear window and rounder quarters seem influenced by the Ferrari Daytona Coupe of the era. I wish the made 924s like this they'ed be a lot better looking IMO.

I agree with you.
I think that even Porsche don't know what this piece is. I have asked about it for the Euro 928 and never heard back.
